Logline: Human resource director Melanie, whose job it is to inform her staff of deaths in the company through "Mournful Memos", life turns upside down when her memos begin to predict future deaths of her enemies in the company.
Synopsis
Human Resources Director, Melanie Lowe, (32), is mocked by her coworkers including her Keith, ex-boyfriend, and Tiffany, his new girlfriend, for doing her job, alerting the staff of recent deaths in the company through emails entitled, “Mournful Memos”. After a particularly humiliating day at work, Melanie drunkenly types, with the help of a computer-generated Monkey “Office Assistant”, Tiffany’s death notice but thankfully doesn’t hit send. The next day at work, however, Tiffany falls to her death in exactly the same way indicated in the death notice. Keith seeks out Melanie for comfort after the death and she mistakenly assumes they are getting back together. After he gently lets her down, she looks at her computer screen. The computer-generated monkey types a death notice, or “Mournful Memo” for Keith. She tries desperately to protect him, to no avail. He too is killed in the exact same way as the memo. This drives Melanie to a nervous breakdown at work. She is wheeled out on a gurney screaming about a monkey. Melanie’s Boss, Frank, introduces Donna, the new Human Resources Director to the staff. She sits down at her desk and is greeted by a computer-generated Monkey “Office Assistant” who beckons her to log on. |
